Assessment

The purpose of this form is for an assessed person, or their authorized agent, to request under section 299 of the Municipal Government Act, “information to show how the assessor prepared the assessment of that person's property” that may not be available on Leduc County's website.

If you have recently moved or changed addresses, you need to change your mailing address to ensure you receive important documents from Leduc County.

Community and special events

We want to help ensure your community event – whether it is a block party, bike race or other event – is safe and successful. To ensure we can provide the support you need to host a safe and successful event, submit the community and special event notification form at least three weeks in advance of the event start date. If your event is expected to have more than 250 attendees, you may need a special event licence.

Development

Nearly all forms of building and development requires a permit to ensure that the proposed project complies with the Land Use Bylaw. Development comes in many forms, such as constructing new buildings or additions, replacing or repairing existing buildings, changing the use of buildings, excavating or stockpiling soil, installing signage on buildings or private land, and starting a home-based business. On an application where the landowner is different than the applicant, this document is required (completed and signed by the landowner) whereby permission is given to the applicant to act on the landowner's behalf.

To appeal a decision, you need to complete the notice of development appeal application and submit it to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) within 21 days of the date of decision.

Drainage

You may be eligible for funding for small drainage projects that affect Leduc County roads, ditches or private drainage. Drainage projects should alleviate ponding along roads or create a benefit to your property.

Emergency services

Are you interested in becoming a paid on-call firefighter in Leduc County? Paid on-call firefighters respond to a variety of emergencies – including but not limited to residential, rural and industrial fire calls, vehicle collisions and airport response – and help keep our communities safe. As a firefighter, you'll receive professional-level National Fire Protection Association training at no personal financial cost and will gain valuable hands-on experience through training scenarios and emergency calls.

The Municipal Standards are intended to assist Leduc County, developers and their representatives, and
contractors in the design, preparation and submission of plans and specifications for construction of municipal improvements and infrastructure that will meet the servicing requirements for commercial, industrial, and residential subdivision and development within Leduc County.

Land Use Bylaw

Changing the land use of a parcel is called redistricting; this would happen when the applicant wants to change the types of development that may be permitted to happen on their land. Before submitting an application to amend the Land Use Bylaw, we encourage you to contact us to discuss the requirements of your proposal.

Property taxes

Tax certificates show a record of yearly tax amounts, payment information and any penalties or outstanding account balances for a property. Often individuals will request a tax certificate during the sale or purchase of a property.

Make paying your property taxes easier by setting up a pre-authorized tax instalment payment plan with Leduc County. This allows you to pay for your property taxes in monthly instalments instead of a lump sum.

Roads

Road-use agreements help protect road infrastructure and also provide business and industry with access to transportation routes and road infrastructure. Prior to starting any business, operation, activity or development that may require transport on Leduc County’s roads, you must contact Leduc County at 780-979-6185 to determine if a road-use agreement is required.

A fire safety plan establishes minimum requirements that will provide a reasonable degree of life safety from fire and similar emergencies. Plans must comply with the Government of Alberta Building codes and standards and other applicable laws and regulations.

Apply for a small storage tank permit (under 2499 litres) for flammable and combustible liquids.

Scholarships and awards

The Agricultural Service Board Bursary is awarded each year to five post-secondary students enrolled in an agricultural-related program. The bursary amounts to $1,000 per recipient. Learn how to apply for this bursary.

Sponsorship and grants

Leduc County offers annual funding opportunities to groups and organizations that encourage the development of arts and culture-related events and programs. We provide the opportunity for low cost, sustainable programs and events that benefit residents in Leduc County.

Grant funding is available to assist residents and organizations to provide events or functions that offer services to Leduc County residents. Learn more about available grants.

The recreation board grant is awarded to a local recreation, athletic or cultural group to help your organization fund a community program or project.

Subdivision

Waste and recycling

Any residential property within New Sarepta, Diamond Estates, Lukas Estates, Royal Oaks, Churchill Meadow, Irvine Creek and Nisku Hamlet will be provided with one waste bin. If you are new to the area or have lost or damaged your waste container, you can apply for a solid waste container.

Water and sewer services

Water distribution customers who have a backflow prevention assembly on their property are required to have them tested annually by a certified tester, and must submit results to Leduc County utilities. Any assemblies that do not pass the test must be repaired or replaced, and retested. A backflow assembly protects the public water distribution system from backflow events that originate from the private side of the water system.

Winter operations

We offer free snowplowing services for private driveways up to three times per season. You will need to pay the fee outlined in the Fees and Charges Bylaw for any additional snow removal requests. Learn more about our winter operations.
